What You'll Learn In Day 1

Welcome to the first day of the Foundations of Women's Wellness Virtual Summit! We are exposed to thousands of health disrupting toxins everyday - we're here to help offer a mindful approach and a supportive community to disrupt the cycle of feeling unwell.

Today, you will learn about stress, recovering from birth trauma, essential oils and hormones, kids' movement, gut health and immunity, CBD and Endometriosis, and then we'll close the day with a beautiful intention setting.

Finding The “Sweet Spot” with Stress

 

Dr. Barbie Allegretti

Our opening session is hosted by Dr. Barbie Allegretti, a board certified Chiropractic Physician specializing in Functional Medicine. She sees patients in person at Nourished Table and Home in Hinsdale. She also sees patients virtually through an online platform, offering consulting services with Functional Medicine. In this presentation, Dr. Allegretti addresses the realities and possibilities of stress. 

Stress is the body’s normal biological response to stimulus. It gives your system a burst of energy that triggers the natural “fight-or-flight” response, enabling your body to react to situations accordingly. Although it has a bad reputation, stress is actually one of the body’s fundamental survival mechanisms.

Short-term stress (stress that lasts a few minutes to a few hours) can, in fact, enhance one’s performance as well as one’s innate and adaptive immune responses. Acute stress results in physiological, neurological, and behavioral changes. For instance, it activates the body’s hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, which releases glucocorticoids, a chemical that promotes energy replenishment and cardiovascular function. In small to moderate doses, stress can strengthen one’s immune system and may help improve a person’s resilience, enabling them to respond to other stressful situations better.

Needless to say, stress isn’t all bad! In small doses—is crucial to survival, and is something you can benefit from.

So how do we find that sweet spot with stress?

Not too much, not too little?

Emotional and Physical Healing from Birth Trauma

 

Landy Peek

In this session, we will hear from Landy Peek, a mom of two, occupational therapist, pelvic therapist, and Certified Birth Healing Specialist. 
 
In her presentation, Landy focuses on how to help women heal physically and emotionally from a traumatic or difficult birth. Trauma keeps women from feeling like themselves, it impacts mom & baby bonding as well as mom's relationships with her partner. Pelvic issues such as pain & pee leaks keep women from being able to fully engage in life activities. But a traumatic birth does not have to be a life sentence of physical and emotional pain.

Stress and Your Hormones - Using Essential Oils for Happy Hormones

Movement & Strategies to Help Kids Cope

 

Erin Bracco

Erin Bracco is the co-founder of Buddha Belly Kids Yoga. For seven years, she was a kindergarten teacher and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Elementary and Special Education from Vanderbilt University. Her passion for child development is evident in her teaching style as she helps children foster newfound confidence and body awareness. Erin thrives on helping little humans gain social-emotional learning strategies to explore and make sense of their world. Erin is a RCYT through Yoga Alliance. She has completed her 200hr teacher training at Zen Yoga Garage in Chicago and her 95 hour kids teacher training and partner yoga through Rainbow Yoga. Erin is a consultant for schools implementing yoga and mindfulness, is the lead trainer for Bari Koral Yogapalooza, and has completed coursework with Mindful Schools. She has learned from Zensational Kids, Karma Kids Yoga, and is currently enrolled in the Mindful Schools Mindful Teacher Certification Program.

In this presentation, Erin will teach us how to connect our own emotions to positive movement. Then, she will,  equip us with the tools necessary to teach these strategies to our children as they process big feelings.

Welcome to Day 1 of the Foundation of Women's Wellness Summit! Today, we'll learn about the relationship between gut health and immunity from Dr. Faranah Nasser. She will explain how the gut works and why it is so essential to our health, explore the ways food can be medicine, and also offers suggestions for resetting and relaxing to improve overfall health.  

Faranah is Nutritional Therapist & Functional Medicine practitioner. She helps women get to the root cause of the symptoms they are experiencing to help them live happier and energized lives. Her area of speciality is Autoimmunity (with a focus on Hashimoto's), the gut and the microbiome. In addition to working in a busy clinic, Faranah is always trying to support and help women with free information through her newsletters and social media.

Welcome to day 1 of the Foundation of Women's Wellness Summit! Today, we'll hear from Hannah Duffy on how to integrate meditation into our daily lives! She will give us practical tips for making this practice part of our routine and then guide us through a short meditation. 

Hannah is a certified meditation coach, and expert design thinking and innovation consultant who loves using her innovative and design expertise to healing, health, and meditation to the stressed-out, skeptical and spiritually curious. She's been meditating every day for the last five years and after listening to her intuition, she left her 9-5 job to re-create her own reality by starting her very own soul-aligned business. She leads a 12-week meditation accountability program called Next-Level Serenity & Soul Meditation Program, to help anyone in need of community, accountability, relaxation, and spirituality, and she also is a design and innovation consultant for high-level spiritual and health-focused leaders.
