Understanding the 4 Main Hormones That Rule Your Life (and Mood)

When it comes to your mood, energy, weight, and overall well-being, your hormones are the ultimate behind-the-scenes directors. Yet, most women don’t get a hormone 101 crash course until something feels "off." Let’s fix that.

Here are the 4 major hormones you should know about:

1. Estrogen

  • What it does: Drives ovulation, supports bone health, boosts mood and skin elasticity.

  • Too much? May lead to heavy periods, mood swings, breast tenderness, and weight gain.

  • Too little? You might experience hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and low mood.

 

2. Progesterone
